Application Purpose: The Purpose of This Award Is to Provide the State of Iowa and Its Subrecipients Funding for Operations Transportation Planning Capital Projects Intercity Bus Services and the Rural Transit Assistance Program (Rtap).; Activities Performed: Funds Will Be Used for Operating Expenses Such as Driver Salaries Fuel Items Having a Useful Life of Less Than One Year and Preventive Maintenance in Order to Continue Transit Operations. Funds Will Be Used to Support Regional Transportation Planning Activities That Are Listed in Each of the Transportation Planning Work Programs (Tpwps) That Each Agency Is Required to Prepare and Is Approved by Iowa Dot. Some of These Activities Include Passenger Transportation Development Planning (Ptdp-Coordinated Human Service Planning) and General Transit/Transportation Planning. Funds Will Be Used for Capital Expenses Such as the Purchase of Public Transit Vehicles Facilities and Related Expenses. Funds Will Also Be Used for Training. Iowas Rtap Funds Are Mainly Used to Provide Local Transit Agencies Training Fellowships. The Fellowships Pay 100 Percent of the Cost for Iowas Small Urban and Regional Transit Systems and Their Planners to Attend Iowa DOT Sponsored Seminars as Well as Transit-Related Courses Conferences or IN-House Training and Also Include a Portion of Statewide Training Seminars and a Statewide Annual Driver Roadeo.; Expected Outcomes: The Expected Outcomes Within Iowas Non-Urbanized Area Include Efficient and Timely Operation of Transportation Services Completion of Short Term Planning Activities Increased Service Reliability with New Capital Assets Preservation of the Intercity Bus Network as Well as a Trained Workforce.; Intended Beneficiaries: This Grant Supports the General Public Intercity Bus Providers and Prospective Riders.; Subrecipient Activities: Subrecipients in This Application Cover Sixteen (16) Regional Areas Seven (7) Small Cities (Populations Under 50000) and Three (3) Intercity Bus Providers.
