Purpose:investing in Integrated Facilities and Infrastructure That Enable Advanced Research on Aquatic Animal Health, Disease, and Environmental Stressors, with the Goal of Improving the Resilience of Salmon Populations and Aquatic Ecosystems in the Pacific Northwestactivities to Be Performed:aquatic Infrastructure Enhancement at Washington State University Will Significantly Expand the Ability to Study Salmon and Trout Throughout Their Life Cycle. Increased Access to Modern Rearing Systems Will Allow Researchers to Raise Fish Continuously in Carefully Controlled and Monitored Environmentsexpected Outcomes:the Project Will Foster a Coordinated Network Connecting Existing Expertise Across the Wsu System Statewide. This Initiative Aims to Enhance Knowledge Sharing and Collaborative Research Related to Salmon Diseases, Biology, and Toxicology, While Providing Opportunities to Work with Tribal and Industry Partners Across Washington Stateintended Beneficiaries: Washington State's Fisheries, Aquaculture Sectors, and the Communities Connected to Them Are Expected to Benefit from the Expanded Wsu Aquatic Infrastructure. The State Is Home to Major Aquaculture and Seafood Companies and an Extensive Hatchery Network Supporting Both Commercial and Recreational Fisheries, Making Salmon and Trout Significant Contributors to Washington's Economy Across Rural and Urban Areas.subrecipient Activity:none.
