Description
Application Purpose: This Project Will Support Supplemental Safe and Reliable Bus Transit Service Between Secaucus Junction and Metlife Stadium as Necessary During High-Volume Events. These Events Can Create Surge Ridership Demand of Up to 20000 People Per Hour Creating the Need to Further Supplement Existing Service to Accommodate Such High Volumes.; Activities Performed: Activities That Will Be Performed Under This Grant Include Design Construction Project Management and Stakeholder Engagement. Construction Includes a Combination of Rehabilitation Expansion and New Infrastructure.; Expected Outcomes: Completion of the Project Will Result in a Modern High Capacity Transitway Between Secaucus Station Which Is a Major Intermodal Facility on the Northeast Corridor and Metlife Stadium. ; Intended Beneficiaries: The Project Will Support NJ Transits Objective to Provide Reliable Efficient and Enhanced Supplemental Bus Transit Service Between Secaucus Junction and Metlife Stadium During High Volume Events. Attendees at These Events Are Not Only from the Immediate NY/NJ Area But Also from Surrounding States Including Connecticut and Pennsylvania. Estimates Prepared by NJ Transit Forecast Ridership Demands of 20000 Passengers Per Hour Before and After These Events. Encouraging Use of Mass Transit for Such Events Is Essential to Not Only Improve Access to Metlife Stadium for Facility Users But Also to Minimize the Congestion on Surrounding Roadways for Both Event Attendees as Well as Those Travelling Through the Area.; Subrecipient Activities: None
