Description
Application Purpose: This Grant Requests Funds for Metrolink Infrastructure Rehabilitation Rolling Stock Component Rehabilitation and for Purchase Upgrade or Replacement of Equipment and Systems to Improve Condition Safety and Functionality.; Activities Performed: - Rehabilitate Railroad Assets Including Rail Ties Ballast Turnouts Switches Other Track Material Track Panels Grade Crossing Components Pedestrian Crossings Maintenance of Way Including But Not Limited to Minor Grading of the Railroad Right of Way Adjacent to the Projects Activities Like Making Sure Crossings/Turnouts Are the Proper Elevations or Signal Houses Have Level Ground for Placement Repair of Fencing Placement of Blocks Communication and Signal Components Train Control Systems (Including Positive Train Control (Ptc)) Signage Passenger Information Systems and Asset Management Systems. Pedestrian Crossings Will Meet Ada Accessibility Guidelines.- Rehabilitate Upgrade or Replace Service and Shop Equipment Systems and Non-Revenue Vehicles. - Rehabilitate Selected Rolling Stock Components and Subsystems Such as Door Control Components and HVAC Units.- Rehabilitation Work Will Take Place Across Metrolinks Commuter Rail Subdivisions as Well as Within Metrolinks Facilities Such as the Central Maintenance Facility (Cmf) Eastern Maintenance Facility (Emf) Layover Yards and Buildings. Rolling Stock Component Rehabilitation May Take Place Within Vendor Facilities.- Purchase of 8 New Tier IV Locomotives Will Be Purchased with Funds Provided by This Grant to Replace 8 MP36 Locomotives.; Expected Outcomes: Rehabilitation Work Will Keep Commuter Rail Assets in a State of Good Repair and Will Sustain Service Reliability and Operational Safety.; Intended Beneficiaries: The Entire Southern California Region Benefits from a Well-Maintained Commuter Rail System. Current and Future Riders Enjoy a Reliable Efficient System to Get Them to Their Destination. The General Public Receives an Improved Quality of Life That Public Transit Offers Including Congestion and Pollution Relief.; Subrecipient Activities: AS a Direct Recipient of Suballocated Funds Metrolink Does Not Intend to Subaward Funds.
