Funds Are Obligated for the Cooperative Agreement for the Maine Maritime Academy Pier and Utilities Upgrade Project. Maine Maritime Academy Is Redeveloping Its Waterfront in Support of a New Training Vessel. Marad Has Previously Contracted to Provide Maine Maritime Academy a Maritime Training and Emergent Response Vessels. The Training Ship Is an Essential Component of the Maine Maritime Academy's Unlimited License Training Program and Allows Students to Spend Months at Sea Navigating and Operating the Vessel as Well as Receiving Hands-On Experience During the Traditional Academic Semesters. To Safely Moor the New Training Vessel Now, and for the Anticipated Life of the Ship, Maine Maritime Academy Must Significantly Redesign Its Current Pier and Waterfront Facilities.
