Application Purpose: The Purpose of This Award Is to Provide Funding to Support the Caltrain Railcar Replacement Project.; Activities Performed: Funds Will Be Used to Purchase Four (4) Seven Car Electric Multiple Unit (Emus) Replacing Three (3) Diesel 7 Car Trainsets; Expected Outcomes: Funding Will Enable Caltrain to Eliminate Diesel Service Originating and Terminating on the Main Transit Link Between the Major Employment Centers of San Francisco and San Jose Reducing Noise Pollution in Communities Along the Corridor. The Project Will Advance the US Department of Transportation (US DOT) Goals of a Safer Stronger and More Efficient Transportation System.; Intended Beneficiaries: Population of the San Francisco Peninsula and San Jose Service Area and Commuter Rail Riders; Subrecipient Activities: None
