Dallas County- Strengthening Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce and Data System - Dallas County Health and Human Services (Dchhs) Serves a Population of Over 2.6 Million People and Is Seeking Funds from All Three Strategies Under the Strengthening U.S. Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce, and Data Systems Grant. AS Part of Our Reaccreditation Process with Phab, Dchhs Has Conducted Department-Wide Assessments of Our Workforce Needs. Dchhs Will Utilize Funding Provided to Hire, Retain, and Train a Diverse Public Health Workforce to Address the Departmental Needs Raised During Our Strategic Thinking Sessions. Dchhs Will Also Develop and Implement a Merit-Based Retention Program, Begin Employee Wellness Programs, and Continue Working on Data Modernization Efforts. Finally, Dchhs Will Expand the Public Health Services Provided to the Dallas County Community by Enhancing Communication and Outreach Activities and Developing and Expanding Community Partnerships to Increase the Services Provided by the Dchhs Chronic Disease Program and the Dchhs Ending the Hiv Epidemic Program. The Intended Outcomes of Our Activities Include (1) Increase Size and Capabilities of the Public Health Workforce; (2) Increasing the Scope and Reach of Public Health Services in Dallas County; (3) Increase Organizational Systems and Processes; and (4) Maintain Data Modernization Efforts to Develop More Modern and Efficient Data Infrastructure. To Do This, Dchhs Used Our Recent Community Health Needs Assessment to Identify Certain Zip Codes and Target Populations That Would Benefit from the Funds Gained Through This Opportunity. Dallas County Plans to Recruit New Hires from These Zip Codes to Ensure a Diverse Public Health Workforce That Is Trusted by These Residents. Through the Strategies and Activities Outlined in This Application, Dallas County Health and Human Services Hopes to Improve Our Underlying Infrastructure and Improve the Health and Wellness of Our Community.
