Description

The Bead Program Provides Federal Funding for Grants to Eligible Entities for Broadband Planning, Deployment, Mapping, Equity, and Adoption Activities. The Program's Principal Focus Will Be on Deploying Broadband Service to Unserved Locations and Underserved Locations. Eligible Entities That Demonstrate They Will Be Able to Ensure Service to All Unserved and Underserved Locations Will Be Free to Propose Plans That Use Remaining Funds in a Wide Variety of Ways, But Ntia Underscores Its Strong Preference That Eligible Entities Also Ensure Deployment of Gigabit Connections to Community Anchor Institutions Such as Libraries and Community Centers That Lack Such Connectivity. Eligible Entities Can Apply Any Additional Funding to Pursue Eligible Access-, Adoption-, and Equity-Related Uses, as Well as Any Other Uses Approved by the Assistant Secretary That Support the Program's Goals.the Proposed Project Includes the Following Activities to Be Performed, Deliverables, and Expected Outcomes: Funds to Be Used for Initial Planning and Pre-Deployment Activities; Funds to Be Used, Directly or Indirectly, for the Administration of the Grant; Funds to Be Used for Administrative Purposes, Other Than for the Administration of the Grant; Funds to Be Used for Programmatic Use (Challenge & Subgrantee Process and Execution); and Funds to Be Used Upon Ntia Approval of the Final Proposal.the Intended Beneficiaries Are the Utah Broadband Center and Principally Unserved and Underserved Communities in Utah. The Recipient Does Intend to Subaward Funds.
