Description:the Agreement Provides Funding Under the Inflation Reduction Act (Ira) to the Office of the Governor of the Northern Mariana Islands to Replace IN-Use, Non-Zero-Emission Heavy-Duty Vehicles with New Zero-Emission Vehicles to Reduce Air Pollution and Greenhouse Gas Emissions in EPA Region 9. The Recipient Will Replace 43 Eligible Vehicles with Comparable, Eligible Zero-Emission Vehicles Under the Vocational Vehicles Sub-Program, Resulting in Cleaner Air and Improved Health for Communities in the Counties of Saipan, Tinian and Rota in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. This Agreement Provides Full Federal Funding in the Amount of $48,690,688. See Terms and Conditions. Activities:the Activities Include Replacing Eligible Internal Combustion Engine Class 6 and Class 7 Vehicles with Eligible Zero-Emission Vehicles; and Providing Workforce Development and Training to Support the Maintenance, Charging, Fueling, and Operation of the New Zero-Emission (Ze)vehicles. The Recipient Will Also Increase Community Engagement and Awareness by Conducting Public Workshops, Hosting Ev Expositions and Information Sessions on the Benefits of Ze Vehicles and Infrastructure. Subrecipient:subawards Will Be to Do the Majority of the Activities - Purchasing and Replacing the Vehicles, Workforce Development and Training, and Raising Community Awareness and Engagement. Outcomes:the Anticipated Deliverables Include Replacing 43 Ice Vehicles with 43 Ze Battery-Electric Vehicles, Including Refuse Haulers, Transit Buses, Emergency Vehicles, and Utility Vehicles. Other Deliverables Include Implementing Training Sessions for the Operation, Maintenance and Repair of Ze Vehicles and Conducting Community Engagement and Awareness Activities. The Expected Outcomes Include a Reduction in Air Pollution and Greenhouse Gas Emissions; Improved Health and Safety; Enhanced Energy Security; Trained and Certified Ev Mechanics, Operators, and Electricians; a Skilled Workforce Capable of Supporting Ze Vehicles and Renewable Infrastructure; Increased Job Placement Rates; Increased Public Understanding and Support for Sustainable Transportation Solutions; and Ensuring Project Sustainability and Alignment with Cnmi's Climate and Green Workforce Goals. The Intended Beneficiaries Include the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Office of the Governor (Grantee), Commonwealth Utilities Corporation (Partner), Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority (Partner), the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services (Partner), the Department of Public Works (Partner), and the Northern Marianas Technical Institute (Partner). Other Beneficiaries Include Disadvantaged Community Residents Who Will Benefit from Improved Ambient Air Quality in Communities in Which the Vehicles Operate.
